Coronavirus Omicron variant India live updates: India reports 1.61 lakh cases, 1,733 deaths in last 24 hours

A sub-variant of the highly contagious Omicron coronavirus strain, which some studies indicate could be even more infectious than the original version, has been detected in 57 countries, the WHO said Tuesday. 

Daily positivity rate at 9.26%.

2,81,109 recoveries in the last 24 hours increases. Recovery rate currently at 94.91%.

Zydus has started supplying its three-dose Covid-19 vaccine ZyCoV-D to India. The pharmaceutical company is also planning to make the vaccine available in the private market: Company statement
